Electronic product design, from idea to a board you can manufacture

You bring the problem: a machine that needs a controller, a sensor that has to report to the cloud, a product your customers keep asking for. We bring the engineering to turn it into a working electronic product.

One team handles the whole path: requirements, architecture, schematics, PCB layout, firmware, prototypes, testing and the hand-over to production. You deal with one Project Head, not five suppliers.

The work

What's included

Requirement analysis

We turn what the product must do into a written specification: inputs and outputs, power, environment, enclosure limits, certification targets and cost per unit.

System architecture

Choice of microcontroller, sensors, communication and power, with the trade-offs explained so you decide with the full picture.

Hardware and PCB

Schematics, component selection with second sources, PCB layout and design-for-manufacturing checks.

Firmware

Drivers, application logic, communication protocols and bootloaders, written for the hardware we designed.

Prototypes and testing

We build and test prototype boards, fix what testing finds and repeat until the design is ready.

Production hand-over

Manufacturing files, bill of materials and support for your first production batch through our EMS partner or yours.

Handed over at project closure

What you receive

  • Specification and architecture document
  • Schematics and PCB design files
  • Gerber, drill and pick-and-place files
  • Bill of materials with approved alternates
  • Firmware source code
  • Test reports
  • Tested prototype boards

Before you ask

Common questions

Do I own the design?

Yes. Once the project is paid for, the design files and firmware source code made for your product are handed over to you at project closure. Any pre-existing BFES building blocks reused in your product are listed in the quotation.

How is a product design project priced?

Projects run on time and material: the quotation gives estimated hours per role, you approve the actual hours every week, and invoices follow every 4 weeks.

Can you work from a rough idea?

Yes. Many projects start with a sketch or a description. The first milestone is then a specification you approve before detailed design begins.

How long does a quotation take?

We reply within 2–3 working days of your request. The quotation lists the scope, milestones, estimated hours per role and material costs.
